Since October 2021, Lars holds the position as the Vinetum endowed lecturer in wild bee health. His research aims to understand the mechanisms underlying wild bee declines and how environmental stressors, such as pathogens, pesticides, and nutrition affect wild bee health. Key interests are studying the interactions among agricultural pesticides and bee pathogens as well as focusing on male insect reproductive health. Besides conducting research both in the laboratory and the field, he assists in the coordination of student research projects at the Institute as well as teaching at the Vetsuisse and Biology Faculty. Currently, he is supervising two M.Sc. students as well as co-supervising a Dr. vet. med. student.
